83rd Academy Awards - Nominees2011-01-26

Yay!
Yesterday the Nominees for the Oscar race were known. And Toy Story 3 is nominated for Best Picture.

On the Animated Feature Film category there are 3 nominees:

"How to Train Your Dragon" - Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois
"The Illusionist" - Sylvain Chomet
"Toy Story 3" - Lee Unkrich

I'm not a huge fan of Toy Story, and I haven't seen The Illusionist yet, so between Dragons and Toy Story 3, I would go for Dragons.

You can see the complete list here.

Anomalia 20112011-01-21

Anomalia is a couple of summer masterclasses, that take place in Czech Republic since 2008.
They invite some world class artists to give masterclasses for a couple of weeks.

This year, these are the available ones:

3D CHARACTER ANIMATION (7 Weeks - 1620 EURO)

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR ANIMATORS (1 Week - 420 EURO)

CHARACTER RIGGING FOR A FEATURE FILM (2 Weeks - 600 EURO)

I never went there, but it's my intention one day. Maybe next year.
Take a look to the website for more detail.

Ice Age: Continental Drift2011-01-07

Scrat Rock's!
In my opinion, Scrat is probably the best animated character, since the 50's. I mean, concept design, animation, entertainment value, etc.
Blue sky has done a great job not over using him, and I hope they keep it that way, by doing that, they always keep the audience interested, and myself nuts for more.
He was one of the reason's why I wanted to become an animator, even if at the time I didn't knew what takes to achieve it.
Anyway, here it is. Enjoy.
